NEW TRADITIONAL MUSIC CLASS FOR BEGINNERS
In response to popular demand, Community Music Crew started a new trad music class for beginners in February this year.
The class is aimed at adults who are taking up a melody instrument and wish to learn a few tunes, and to play with other people. It is not suitable for complete beginners, but if you can play one or two tunes, or even just a scale, this class should suit you. There is no need to read music, although sheet music will be available. You will need your own instrument!
The class will teach a tune per week, building into sets of tunes commonly played in local sessions. The pace will be slow, and the atmosphere relaxed! Sets to date are Paddy in London/Blackthorn Stick/Paddy's Return and My Love is in America/Ms McLeod's.
The class takes place upstairs in the Western Hotel, Prospect Hill, on Thursday evenings from 6.30 to 7.30, and will be followed immediately by the Dusty Banjos Learners Session, which now has a starting time of 7.30pm.
The new class costs a recession-busting €5. For further information, contact Heather or Mary at 095-44845, or visit the Dusty Banjos website at www.dustybanjos.com.
