Cleggan music weekend - getting here

By car:

From Galway, take the N59 (Westport Rd) towards Clifden. You will pass through Moycullen, Oughterard, Maam Cross and Recess on the way (around 50 miles).

As you approach Clifden, you'll see the Catholic church on your right. The Westport road is a sharp right turn just ahead; there is a petrol station on the corner. (If you should miss the turn, you'll enter the circular one-way system of Clifden's main streets, which will bring you back to it).

Continue on the N59 for approx 6 miles, when the main road bends sharply to the right and the road to Cleggan goes straight ahead. You'll see the large sign for Cleggan Fishing Village on your left. Continue on for about 3.5 miles and suddenly you’ll see Cleggan harbour, the Atlantic ocean and Inisbofin and Inishark islands before you; a lovely scenic welcome to the Aughrus peninsula and Cleggan village!

Parking in Cleggan
The village is plagued with people leaving their cars parked on the main road and around the harbour. It disrupts deliveries and obstructs local residents and fishermen. All the B&Bs have car parks, and there are several others for only €3/day. Please make use of  them, and don’t clog up the village – be a considerate visitor!

By bus:

Citylink buses operate 3 services a day between Galway & Cleggan, click here for the timetables, and make sure to check with the driver that they’re going all the way to Cleggan (sometimes they don’t if a ferry’s not expected).
